GloPoWriMo started today. I did a poem but it wasn’t great. Preferred Steve Achieves. Bike ride was okay, but Derwent Walk return to Consett gets boring. Just a straight line uphill. Home around quarter to two. On the couch most of the time since. Good to receive comments from old friends Gus and Natty about bikes. Good to check out more Kevin Brooks books online. Newsnight is on with some honest desperation from MPs who are sick to the back teeth of all the Brexit stuff: ‘Just admit it, we’ve failed, we should say sorry and ask the nation to think again.’ Which is a similar opinion to the poem I wrote a few weeks ago. Tired, my eyes hurt. Looking forward to bed. 11.15 pm.

Canny day. But fiddly bits of admin got in the way. Added pages to Anomalies Deluxe from my post-breakdown 1998 Black Notebook. Still some Theatre Cap-A-Pie production notes from 2000 to add and bits of memorabilia to find – photos, flyers, etc. Got Steve Achieves and GloPoWriMo done, the latter a bit rushed. Watched Jill Dando documentary and latest Westminster mash-up. Tezza finally admitted she can’t get deal over the line, is looking to Corbyn for a bail out. I hope it fails. Tories called the referendum, they should sort it themselves or call an election. In fact the party should just dissolve and hand over the keys of number 10 as a forfeit for such sheer bloody recklessness.

Not much done on the big book. Been compiling it for nearly four years. Just woke up on the couch with not much of today left. I am a bit all over the place. Did some copy-ups. Got some food down my gullet. Hardly awake. Haven’t read much. I’m out most of tomorrow and again on Friday. I sent Stephen J. Clark a PDF of one of his earliest short stories that I found in a folder of letters. Ate another great fry-up. Can’t wait to get to bed. Knackered. Hope I get decent sleep. Out to Consett first thing. Hope another Kevin Brooks book arrives at the library soon. 11.39 pm.

Good day. Bank transactions first thing and food for the week. No time for much at home. Out this afternoon on bus to Stanley. Returned books to the library. Bought a lush journal – black near A4 size bound with ribs down the spine. Bus to Durham. Read some Afterlife stories, dropped off some stuff at Waddy. Their computers are being replaced and I forgot my tablet so went to Clayport to do some work. Got a canny Steve Achieves and typed up a GloPoWriMo poem. Back to Waddy for chilli and rice tea. Poetry Jam was mint. Great guest performances from Karen Middleton, Jan Noble and Lisette Auton. Good turns from open floor jammers. Big fun and a good turn out. Thanks to Waddy for venue and Fergus for working the cafe and lift home. Now it’s Question Time: Brexit and knife crime. A good way to bring you down after a great day. 11.33 pm.

Nearly forgot to do journal. Out quite early today for Consett Writers workshop. In Margaret’s house. Edward Hopper picture writing marathon. Everyone keen to hear all work produced so we did an extra hour. Lots of good writing. Then off to The Company Row in town for a drink and chat about staying afloat in the digital cyber age. I went to Tesco for paper stock. Walked home, checked Facebook and emails. Caught latest Brexit nonsense. We aren’t leaving. They’ll drag it out past Euro elections and put whatever bullshit May gets away with back to people who by then will be so pig fucking sick of the whole shambles it will get called off. Great to see ‘Guns for Hire’ musical sidemen and sidewomen documentary: Earl Slick (Bowie), Wendy and Lisa (Prince), Bernard Fowler (Rolling Stones) and Crystal Taliefero (Billy Joel). Good end to the day. 11.35 pm.

Went into town for microwave steam bags from Boyes and Killing God by Kevin Brooks from Consett Library. Eyes are sore. Headaches. Need new glasses, methinks. Slept this afternoon. Edited and uploaded Poetry Jam pix this evening. Took nearly five hours coz desktop processor is almost kaput. Read a bit of High Adventures in the Great Outdoors by Rollins. 10.36 pm.

Lie in this morning did me good. Wrote a prose poem for GloPoWriMo, did Steve Achieves, ate sausage and veg dinner, listened to Vice Squad and TV Smith; watched a Danny Goldberg interview about his Kurt Cobain book ‘Serving the Servant’. Strange being at home all weekend. 11.02 pm.
